WHY MOSSRIDGE

What working with us is designed to give you.

We have made deliberate choices about what kind of consulting practice Mossridge Bureau would be. This page explains what those choices produce for the founders we work with.

AT A GLANCE

What founders take away from an engagement

A written document to keep

Every engagement ends with a written output. Not just notes — a structured reflection you can return to, share with a co-founder, or use as a reference point.

An outside perspective

We are not inside your venture. That distance, handled carefully, produces observations that people close to the work often cannot make.

Clearer next questions

We rarely produce answers in the conventional sense. What we produce is a clearer picture of which questions are worth spending time on and which are not.

Structured thinking time

Early-stage founders rarely have protected time to think. Our sessions create that — with structure, so the time produces something useful rather than just more circling.

A confidential space

Some things are difficult to say to investors, co-founders, or team members. We hold those conversations carefully and without an agenda of our own.

Stage-appropriate input

We understand the early-stage context. Our observations are relevant to where you are now — not shaped by frameworks designed for later-stage or enterprise situations.

EXPERTISE

Consultants who know the early stage

We do not work across every stage of business. Our practice is focused on the first two to four years of a venture, which means the questions we encounter are familiar ones. We have seen similar patterns before — not so that we can tell you what to do, but so that we can ask useful questions and recognise when something deserves more attention than it is getting.

  • Direct experience with early-stage venture development across Malaysia and Southeast Asia
  • Familiarity with the Malaysian startup ecosystem and its particular characteristics
  • Understanding of the different pressures founders face at different moments in the early years
Expertise in this context does not mean having all the answers. It means having spent enough time with similar questions to know which ones tend to matter most.

PROCESS

A clear shape without unnecessary rigidity

Each engagement type follows a consistent structure: preparation, conversation, written output. Within that structure, the content bends to meet the actual situation. We do not impose a framework onto your venture; we use structure to make the thinking more productive.

  • Pre-session written brief ensures the conversation is well-prepared
  • Structured sessions that produce output, not just discussion
  • Written deliverable within five working days of each session
The brief we exchange before each engagement is worth reading carefully. Most founders find that writing it down already clarifies something.

ACCESSIBILITY

In person or by video call — your choice

We work from Vista Tower in Kuala Lumpur and are accessible by video call. Founders outside the city, or those who prefer not to travel, can engage with the same quality of work remotely. Our written briefs and deliverables travel well regardless of format.

  • Sessions available in person at Level 23, Vista Tower, KL
  • Full video call option for founders anywhere in Malaysia
  • Written deliverables shared securely by email
For the Advisory Conversation in particular, many founders find the video call format creates a useful degree of distance from the immediate environment.

PRICING

Clear fees, stated before anything begins

We publish our fees and hold them. There are no variable charges based on time taken, no add-ons, and no pricing conversations mid-engagement. You know what you are committing to before you commit to it. For early-stage founders managing working capital carefully, that consistency has value.

  • MYR 540 for a single Founder Advisory Conversation
  • MYR 2,460 for the Early-Stage Review
  • MYR 3,180 for the Go-to-Market Thinking Engagement
All fees are invoiced in Malaysian Ringgit by bank transfer before the engagement begins. No surprises at the end.

OUTCOMES

What a well-run engagement produces

The outcomes of consulting work are not always measurable in the immediate term. What we can say is what founders typically tell us after an engagement: that they left with a clearer sense of which question to work on next, and a written document they found useful to return to. That is the outcome we aim for.

  • Greater clarity on the central question or decision
  • A written reflection to share, reference, or build on
  • Identification of what is worth more attention and what can be set aside
We review founder feedback after every engagement. That feedback shapes how we work. It is not a box-ticking exercise — it is how we learn.

COMPARISON

How we differ from other consulting options

There are many consulting and advisory options available to founders. This is not a critique of any of them — it is a description of how Mossridge Bureau is positioned differently.

Focused on early-stage specifically Only early-stage clients Mixed stage portfolios
Pre-session written brief for preparation Standard practice Usually skipped

DISTINCTIVE FEATURES

Three things we do that others tend not to

01

The working margin

Within our written outputs, we include a separate set of "working margin" notes — questions to hold, references to consider, reflections that did not fit the main document but are worth having. Founders tell us this section is often the most useful.

02

The written brief as engagement tool

Before every session, we exchange a short written brief. We ask the founder to describe their current situation in their own words, without our questions shaping the response first. That brief often surfaces the most important thing — before the conversation has even started.

03

The fit note

Each engagement description includes a short "fit note" describing the founder stage it tends to suit. We do this because taking the wrong engagement for your current moment wastes time. We would rather you choose correctly — even if that means starting with the smaller engagement.
